The National  College “Ienăchiţă Văcărescu” has been for years on end the tip of the Dâmboviţa county learning establishments. Under the attentive guidance of an exceptionally professional teachers, the students develop their skills and creativity, as well.

Placed in the downtown of the picturesque town of Târgovişte, the National  College“Ienăchiţă Văcărescu”   has been in existence for 134 years by now. The College extends teaching over the lower and higher secondary school. The higher secondary years has a theoretical orientation and has two main profiles:
- The theoretical profile – mathematics- informatics, and natural sciences
- The humanities profile - Bilingual, philology  and social sciences
Foreign languages studied by various classes are: English, French, German and Italian.

The college is made up of three main bodies, with modern classroom, with laboratories for various subjects such as: physics, chemistry, informatics, modern languages two sports fields and three libraries with a considerable number of books.
At present, the college hosts 1113 students that come from the best schools in the area, selected after a rigorous contest and distributed to the profiles above mentioned.

The college’s students have always stood out in the national and international contests such as Olympiads, Cambridge exams and some of them have become eligible for scholarships in universities abroad.
National College  "Ienăchiţă Văcărescu" boasts the reputation of a Cambridge assessment centre, facilitating access to these exams. Many of our students choose to study abroad, mostly due to their exquisite school results.

The school’s educational offer relies on fostering Computer skills, foreign languages, civic and democratic insights and gives the students the opportunity of attending courses that cannot easily be found in the other schools’ offer- Oracle Certificates, ECDL, and IC3, Peace Corps, Learning Italian, Partnership with Junior Achievement or Education for family life.

The  National College " Ienăchiţă Văcărescu " was involved in national and international exchange programms ( with Belgium, Spain, Greece, Holland, Germany), eTwinning projects (“Easter in My Country”, ”Spring Nature in Our Countries”, “A Map of Europe through Postcards”, “The Natural and Cultural Heritage- a priceless wealth”, “Everything About My School”),   project “Spring Day in Europe”, “GLOCAL TOUR” thus having been A European School since 2006.
